What Do You Want in the Top Rated Minivan of 2014?
While there are many different groups out there that rate and review vehicles—and we’re sure some of them disagree on what the top rated minivan of 2014 is—we think that the 2014 Honda Odyssey is one of the best choices for area drivers in the need of a new family vehicle.
We’ve got a quick rundown of some recent awards the Odyssey has won that are worth your attention.
Autobytel’s 2014 Minivan of the Year
Autobytel has named the 2014 Odyssey as their 2014 Minivan of the Year, taking the top spot due to its improvements across the board to fuel economy as well as upgrading to “a much classier interior that retains all of its utility while improving comfort by a substantial margin.” The editors also added that they were happy with the HondaVac, saying “this is the only minivan that you can order with a built-in vacuum cleaner.”
Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety just recently revised their testing and award categories, creating the Top Safety Pick+ category for models that go above and beyond the goals set for their Top Safety Pick award.
In order to earn this coveted award, a vehicle must earn the highest ranking, “good,” in moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests as well as earn an “acceptable” or “good” in the new small overlap crash test.
To earn that “+,” though, the vehicle must also have some level of frontal crash prevention. The 2014 Odyssey, when equipped with the optional Forward Collision Warning system, is the only minivan to have the Top Safety Pick+ designation.
