2016 Nissan Frontier Standard Features vs. the 2017 Honda Ridgeline

2017 Honda Ridgeline AWDIf you looked at the 2016 Nissan Frontier standard features and wondered if you could do better, you’ve come to the right place. The Tri-State drivers we know who are searching for new trucks need them to be more than a cab, a bed, and a set of wheels, but without upgrades, that’s about all the Frontier has going for it. We took a look at how Nissan’s base-level trim compares to the entry-level 2017 Honda Ridgeline RT to give you an idea of what you should expect from a truck in the modern era.

Frontier Offers Stripped-Down Features

Many of the truck drivers who have visited us at Tri-State Honda Dealers tell us that they don’t need the most state-of-the-art features on their truck; just Bluetooth for fielding work calls and maybe a rearview camera for lining up the trailer. Drivers who want more can certainly find it on the Ridgeline, but the 2016 Nissan Frontier standard features don’t even include power windows or locks, let alone a rearview camera or Bluetooth.

We think the best way to understand where the Frontier stands is to show you all of the features that are on the Ridgeline RT that would require an upgrade or are completely unavailable on the Frontier S:

  • Power windows and power locks (with keyless entry)
  • Air-conditioning
  • Bluetooth phone and audio
  • Multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines
  • Fold-up rear seat for added in-cab storage
  • Lockable in-bed trunk with more than 7 cubic feet of space
  • Dual-action tailgate that folds down or opens sideways
  • 200-watt stereo system with seven speakers
  • 5-inch color LCD screen

If all you’re looking for is a practical and powerful truck, well, the Ridgeline offers a more efficient and more powerful engine, too. 2017 Ridgeline 2WD models feature a 280-hp V6 with an EPA-estimated 26 highway mpg* while the 2016 Frontier only has a 261-hp V6 with 22 highway mpg (if you are willing to upgrade from the Frontier’s standard 152-hp 4-cylinder, of course).

Test Drive a Honda Ridgeline

Drivers seeking a powerful, efficient, and well-equipped pickup, we think the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is the truck for you. You should see it in action at a Tri-State Honda Dealer. We’ll put you behind the wheel for a test drive to show you what elevates the Ridgeline above the 2016 Nissan Frontier standard features.
