The 2014 Honda Pilot MPG: Great SUV Gas Mileage
If you’ve got your eye on the 2014 Honda Pilot, you’ve already got a great SUV on your list, but did you know that it’s also pretty darn fuel efficient too?
MPG ratings matter these days, especially as it looks like gas prices have no sign of dropping too low anytime soon, and Honda has done well to give their full-size SUV a solid fuel economy.
A Fuel Efficient SUV
We know that the phrase “fuel efficient SUV” may cause some ears to perk up, as it was just a few years ago when drivers thought this was next to impossible. And yet here we are in 2014 with the Honda Pilot 2WD LX with automatic transmission, its 250-hp V6 engine offering up 25 highway mpg and 18 city mpg.*
In fact, that puts it ahead of competing vehicles like the 2014 Ford Explorer. It may only be a small amount ahead of the Explorer’s 24 highway and 17 city mpg, but it’s still an advantage that will add up.
And when you add in the standard features that are included on the entry-level Pilot, it makes us wonder why folks in the tri-state area choose a different SUV. Honda gives drivers Bluetooth for phone and audio, a touchscreen infotainment system, a rearview camera, SMS texting, Pandora radio, steering wheel-mounted controls, and more on the Pilot LX.
It sounds like a good deal to us, especially when finding all of that equipment on a competing SUV like the Explorer would require upgrades beyond the base-level trim.
